The Delaware State Parks AmeriCorps Summer Program is a national service program that provides a $208 per week living allowance and a $1,275 - $1,800 educational scholarship to members for helping in Delaware State Parks.

There are 30 positions available in parks throughout the state. Yes, that includes the beaches!

Environmental Programs

Full Description

Teach environmental education. Lead nature walks. Give tours in the Nature Center. Help kids in park summer camps.

History

Full Description

Civil War: Be a living history interpreter or docent at Fort Delaware and help visitors experience 1864 once again.

WWII: Work with the new Fort Miles programs, providing information and tours in WWII gun batteries at Cape Henlopen State Park.

Turn of the Century: Provide information, assist visitors and lead tours in a water rescue museum at Delaware Seashore State Park.

Full Description

Be a real trail blazer! Build, repair and maintain trails and fixed trail features throughout the state, working outdoors with our professional Trails Crew.

Natural Resources

Full Description

Make a real impact. Conduct natural resource field activities, including plant identification, research and surveying, and natural areas management.

What’s Required

  • You must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the U.S.
  • You must be at least 17 years of age.
  • You must be a high school graduate or in school working towards graduation.
Positions available for
  • 8 Reduced Half-time Members
    April – August, 2004
    Must complete 675 hours (21 weeks = 32 hours/week)
    $208 per week living allowance, paid every 2 weeks
    $1,800 educational scholarship upon successful completion
  • 22 Quarter-Time Members
    End of May – August, 2004
    Must complete 450 hours (15 weeks = 30 hours/ week)
    $208 per week living allowance paid every 2 weeks
    $1,275 educational scholarship upon successful completion
