2012 Adventure Race Series

The Adventure Race Series enters its seventh season in 2011. This year, we will again have five races at five different parks. Each race is designed with the average athlete in mind. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories and each participant receives a race T-shirt!

Canoe (2 miles) • Mountain Bike (5 miles) • Orienteering Course (2 miles)
June 16, 2012 • 9 a.m.

Start by mountain biking the forested trails of Brandywine Creek State Park in this team event. Then grab a paddle and enjoy a beautiful stretch of Brandywine Creek. Finally, pick up a map and compass and be the first to complete the orienteering portion of the race. This team event is limited to 100 participants. Canoes, compasses and maps are provided.

Killens Pond State Park
Road Bike (10 miles) • Trail Run (3.1 miles) • Flatwater Kayak (1 mile)
July 9, 2011 • 8 a.m.

Begin by pedaling your way along the roads at Killens Pond. Next, a run will take you along the park's forested trails. End the race in a kayak and paddle to the finish! Race is limited to 100 participants. Meet at the Nature Center. Kayaks provided. This is a team or individual event.

This race starts off with a mountain bike excursion around scenic Lums Pond. Then grab a paddle and hit the water in a kayak. Explore more of the forest scenery with a trail run to complete the race. This race for teams or individual athletes is limited to 120 participants. Kayaks are provided.

Road Bike (7 miles) • Trail Run Run (2 miles) • Paddle Boat* (0.2 miles) • Flatwater Canoe* (¾ mile)
September 10, 2011 • 9 a.m.

Enjoy the scenery as you bike on roads and run along trails through the park that will lead you to beautiful Trap Pond. Use your navigation skills as you and a partner maneuver a paddleboat and finish the race in a canoe. This team event is limited to 80 participants. *Paddleboats and canoes are provided; bikes are not. Please bring your own.
