Wilmington State Parks and Brandywine Creek State Park are seeking personnel to fill the following positions:
Seasonal Naturalist
Program Leader I to II (depending upon experience)
This is a seasonal position with the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control, Division of Parks and Recreation, working out of Brandywine Creek State Park and/or Wilmington State Park. This position will run from March through October, approximately 24-30 hours per week.
Principle duties include:
- Conducting school and public programs, focusing on environmental education of the cultural and natural history of Brandywine Creek and Wilmington State Parks and interpretation of local history.
- Help develop programs, lesson plans and other educational materials.
- Assist with care and maintenance of live animal specimens (Brandywine Creek).
- Assist with various tasks to enhance and promote these State Parks’ interpretative plan.
- Must be able to work a minimum of one weekend day and some nights.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum 2 years coursework in biology, environmental education, history, art or related field.Preference will be given to condidates who possess a Bachelors Degree.
- Knowledge of natural history, entomology, ornithology, cultural history and/or ecology.
- Experience teaching and working with children and/or interpretation with public groups.
- Experience with river canoeing preferred for Brandywine Creek State Park position.
