Bellevue is seeking personnel to fill the following positions:

Summer Day Camp Counselor

Duties include working alongside other camp staff members to plan and implement summer camp enrichment activities. Day camp topics vary from week to week. 

The principle duties include:

  • Supervising campers alongside other camp staff members.
  • Leading and assisting campers in nature activities, sports and games, arts and crafts and weekly field trips.
  • Leading by example and serving as a positive role model for campers ages 6-12 years.
  • Interacting positively with park visitors, providing customer service and serving as a representative of the Bellevue Arts Center.
  • Arriving no later than 8:30 a.m. each morning of camp and being present and involved with campers between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Counselors will be expected to take turns providing before- and after-care.  

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old, serving as a positive role model
  • Ability to providing valuable enrichment activities and interact with other staff and campers in a positive and rewarding way.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma and some college course work.
  • Experienced working with children between the ages of 6 and 12 years.
  • Must be at least 18 years old as of June 12, 2008.
  • No more than six points on your drivers’ license.
  • Must have access to consistent and reliable transportation. 

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience working in summer camp setting.

Summer Concert Series Sound Technician

This position involves operating sound equipment during the 2008 Summer Concert Series at Bellevue State Park. Concerts take place at an outdoor bandshell.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Arriving prior to concerts to meet performers, set up sound equipment and perform sound check(s) befor concert start time.
  • Introducing performers to audience and making necessary announcements.
  • Positively interacting with park visitors, providing customer service and serving as a representative of the Bellevue Arts Center.
  • Serving as a liason between the park staff and concert performers, communicating critical information or concerns.
  • Operating sound equipment throughout the concert, adjusting sound as necessary.
  • Cancelling concerts upon short notice when necessary due to inclement weather.
  • Breaking down sound equipment following concert, waiting for performers to depart and locking up bandshell for the night.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience operating professional sound equipment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Access to consistent and reliable transportation.
  •  Ability to communicate in a positive and professional manner with both park visitors and musical performers.
  • Ability to perform some moderate lifting.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience operating sound equipment for live performances.

Seasonal Program Assistant

Duties include conducting guided tours and educational activities at Bellevue State Park and outreach sites, assisting with special events and day camps as needed and assisting with administrative duties at the Bellevue Arts Center.

The principle duties include:

  • Conducting environmental, cultural and historical education programs for park visitors.
  • Making outreach presentations at schools, day care facilities and summer camp programs.
  • Assisting with summer day camps as needed, serving as a substitute for camp staff.
  • Providing administrative support at the Bellevue Arts Center, performing tasks such as answering phones, handling program registration, data entry, maintaining bulletin boards and park displays, etc. May write press releases, make brochures and fliers, staff the Arts Center during exhibit hours and perform related work as required.
  • Interacting positively with park visitors, providing customer service and acting as a representative of the Bellevue Arts Center.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak to a large audience and convey historical, artistic, environmental and cultural information in an interactive and exciting way.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people of all ages, special populations and socio-economic backgrounds. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma and some college course work.
  • Knowledge or interest in artistic, historical or environmental fields.
  • No more than six points on your drivers’ license.
  • Access to consistent and reliable transportation. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of program planning and presentation.
  • Ability to conduct activities such as educational programs, special events, and produce promotional literature, displays and exhibits.
  • Experience working in a museum, park or nature center.
