The map link below marks a route which will guide you through the Park.
At one time, Fort Dupont was part of a three-point defense of the Delaware River, along with Fort Delaware in the center of the river and Fort Mott on the New Jersey shore. Though it never saw actual combat, the fort remained in use through the Second World War. Most of the buildings here date from the first half of the 20th century. This fort was named for Rear Admiral Samuel Francis du Pont. A native of Delaware and a hero of the Civil War, du Pont is one of the few Naval officers to be honored in this way by the United States Army.
