New slogan:
Leave No Trace,
Take Your Waste |
In 1994, Delaware State Parks established a trash-free parks program. As part of "Carry In, Carry Out," trash cans were removed from most public park areas, and visitors began to take their trash with them when they left. Besides increasing the beauty of the parks, the program saved about $55,000. The savings were used to fund other programs and facilities for visitors to enjoy.
With the success of the program, the next logical step was to align with the nationally-recognized Leave No Trace, Center for Outdoor Ethics program. New signs and bags decorate the parks with the new Leave No Trace, Take Your Waste slogan. This change will help bring awareness of the continuing effort to reduce impacts on our parks and environments.
Be a part of something big and join our staff in Leaving No Trace.
