1980

First disc golf course opened at Brandywine Creek State Park.

1981

Fenwick Island established as a separate state park.

H. Fletcher Brown State Park established in Wilmington on the site of Old Soldiers Park and the H. Fletcher Brown Vocational High School.

1982

Lums Pond State Park becomes the first state park to be surveyed for Native American and historic archaeological sites.
