Bat House Building Workshop

  • DATE: March 12, 2010
  • TIME: 7 – 9 p.m.

We’ll discuss the “white nose syndrome” that may be affecting Delaware’s native bat populations, learn why people should care about bats, and build a bat house to take home. Cost includes supplies. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-register no later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10. Meet at the Arts Center. $20 per bat house

Bellevue Hall Tour

Tour elegant Bellevue Hall, the former home of William DuPont, Jr., and learn about a “secret” passageway and an underground tunnel. Register no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, March 19. Private tours may be arranged for groups of 10 or more. $8 per person

Introduction to Candy Making

Join us at Bellevue Hall to learn the process, taste finished products and make candy to take home. This program is intended for an adult audience; however children ages 12 and older are welcome with an adult. Register no later than Tuesday, March 23. $10 per person

Tour the Mount Pleasant Meeting House

  • DATE: March 27, 2010
  • TIME: 1 p.m.

Learn the history, tour the parsonage and visit the cemetery where you will recognize many familiar New Castle County names. Visitors should be prepared to climb steps and walk on uneven ground. Register no later than Thursday, March 25. Meet at the Mount Pleasant Meeting House. $6 per person

Full Moon Hike

Take a guided nighttime hike through the park to learn about the moon. Wear comfortable shoes as we may venture into the woods. Register no later than 4 p.m. on the last business day before the program. Meet at the Park Office. $4 per person

Spring Break Day Camp

For ages 7 to 12
Get out of the house, make some new friends and spend some time enjoying the park! Games, arts and crafts and nature exploration are all part of the fun! Campers should pack a bag lunch each day. Registration deadline is March 26; however, registrations may be accepted after that date if space is available. Call (302) 761-6963. $175 per camper. Camp runs from April 5 through April 9.

Christina River Cleanup at Fox Point State Park

  • DATE: April 10, 2010
  • TIME: 9 a.m. – Noon

Help clean the single most important natural resource in our region – the waterways. Since 1992, thousands of volunteers have helped fill trash bags in Churchman’s Marsh, White Clay Creek State Park, the City of Wilmington, and other locations. Join us at Pavilion B at Fox Point State Park for this statewide effort. Call to find out more or to register as a volunteer.

Bellevue “Nature Shed” Open House

Visit an old stallion stall that was used as a play house and renovated during an Eagle Scout project into a miniature Nature Center. No registration necessary. Located behind Figure 8 Barn. $2 per person, or maximum of $5 per family

Spring Into Cleaning

  • TIME: 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Get a head start with easy homemade cleaning solutions. In this make-it-and-take-it workshop at the Bellevue Arts Center, you’ll blend non-toxic, environment-friendly ingredients that will leave your home clean and smelling fresh. Register no later than 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 8. Meet at the Arts Center. $10 per person

Bellevue Arts Center 5th Annual Earth Day Poster Contest

  • DATE: April 12, 2010
  • TIME:

This year’s theme is, “The Green Generation.” Posters will be judged in two age categories: 6 through 8, and 9 through 11. All artwork must be original. Posters should be standard poster board size (22” x 28”) and can be created using any medium. Drop off entries at the park by Monday, April 12, or mail to: Earth Day Poster Contest, 800 Carr Road, Wilmington, DE 19809, postmarked by April 5. Include the artist’s name, age, school, phone number and mailing address. Finalists’ posters will be displayed in the Bellevue Arts Center, and contest winners will be announced at our Earth Day Concert on Saturday, April 17. Earth Day Concert: The Grey Street Band

This year our Earth Day concert will feature The Grey Street Band, a Dave Matthews tribute band. Our Earth Day Poster Contest winners will be announced during intermission. Jewelry Making Workshop
