Richard came to Delaware in 2005 with 18 years of experience in environmental education and marine conservation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Rochester and a master’s degree in Conservation Biology from San Francisco State University. He is a Certified Interpretative Guide with NAI (National Association of Interpreters) and a Fundamentals of Kayaking Instructor. He is also a certified instructor for Project Wet, Project Learning Tree and Project Flying Wild.
Originally from Connecticut, he has worked along the Atlantic, Pacific and Gulf coasts, employed in fisheries research, habitat conservation, environmental education and marine science education. Before coming to Delaware State Parks, Richard was the Director of the Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center at Milford Point, CT where he received the Connecticut Water Quality and Water Resources Environmental Educator of the Year Award.
