White Clay Creek State Park

Newark, Delaware

Open Daily 8 a.m. to Sunset

There are plenty of year-round activities available at White Clay Creek. The Nature Center hosts fun and interesting public programs, and visitors can enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, birdwatching or disc golf.

Families may take advantage of the large picnic area and pavilion for a reunion or to host a casual barbecue with friends, followed by an evening concert or other special event throughout the summer. Sledding and cross-country skiing are among the many winter activities available at the park.

Located in the park are small ponds that contain largemouth bass and bluegills. Springtime brings trout fishing to rocky White Clay Creek, while Millstone and Cattail Ponds offer year-round fishing for bluegill and crappie and a catch-and-release program for bass. In addition, the White Clay Creek offers anglers the opportunity to fish for stocked rainbow and brown trout. The creek is closed, however, to all fishing two weeks prior to the opening day of trout season. The trout fishing season runs from the first Saturday in April through June 30th, and from the first Saturday in October through November 30th. More about fishing in Delaware State Parks
