As Interpretive Program Manager of Wilmington State and Alapocas Run State Parks, Barbara is responsible for year-round programming that connects people to the natural, cultural and historical resources of these very diverse parks. In addition, she oversees Delaware State Parks annual Seasonal Interpretive Training.

Wilmington State Parks is a series of urban parks located in downtown Wilmington, Delaware. Alapocas Run State Park, featuring the Blue Ball Barn and Delaware’s Contemporary Folk Art Collection, has acres of beautiful natural resources, including the picturesque Brandywine Creek, recreational rock climbing, folk arts and folk life programming, a LEED Gold-certified re-adaptive use historic barn and an all-abilities playground.

Barbara began her career more than 30 years ago as an historical interpreter in New York State. While living in Delaware, she earned her Masters Degree in Education from Widener University, interpreted Delaware State History for Delaware State Museums, served as Assistant Curator of Education at the Brandywine Zoo, Delaware’s only zoo, and as Nature Center Manager for Brandywine Creek State Park.

Barbara Woodford is currently serving on the board of the Delaware Association for Environmental Education. She is a member of the Children In Nature Taskforce, and is a National Association for Interpretation Certified Guide, Interpretive Trainer and Interpretive Manager.
