This picturesque park is the heart of Wilmington State Parks and runs along either side of the Brandywine River. Visitors can enjoy a stroll or jog along the river, picnic lunch, and other activities among the park's monuments, formal gardens, and natural areas. The Josephine Fountain, a favorite place to make a wish, is located here. Visually-impaired visitors can enjoy the wonders of nature by walking the Sensory Trail. Brandywine Park is home to the Brandywine Zoo and Baynard Stadium.

Brandywine Zoo

Open since 1905, Delaware's only zoo is located a few steps from the Brandywine River. The 12-acre zoo features Siberian tigers, river otters, and other animals native to the Americas and the temperate areas of Asia. A state-of-the-art Andean Condor exhibit features a 110,000-cubic-foot fly cage. Admission is charged from April through October.
